Before and after

The “before” is an illustration of the kind of starting point this concept was designed for. The business is made up; the problem is common.

Before: the old address showed an expired-domain page, which looks a lot like “closed”.

After: a quote form that asks only what’s needed, with the phone number one tap away on every page.

The brief

Tidyline is a sole-trader electrician covering the Southside. The old website quietly expired, so anyone who typed in the address hit an error page, which looks a lot like “gone out of business”.

The brief was a site that earns trust quickly and makes it easy to call or ask for a quote, from a phone, in a hurry, possibly in the dark.

What I built

A trades site with click-to-call in the header, a short quote form, clear descriptions of each job (fault finding, consumer units, EICRs, EV chargers, lighting) and an FAQ.

Each area covered (Shawlands, Battlefield, Langside, Cathcart, Pollokshields and Giffnock) gets its own page, which helps with local search. There’s a clearly marked space for real accreditation details.

Design choices

Palette

Navy reads as steady and professional. Safety yellow is used only where you want attention, on the call button and key labels, the same way it’s used on site.

Type

Space Grotesk headings feel technical without being cold. IBM Plex Sans keeps the detail readable for people who just want to know if you can come on Tuesday.

Built for urgent visits

People rarely browse an electrician’s site for fun. The phone number is never more than a thumb away, and the quote form asks only what’s needed.

Measured, not claimed

Fast on a phone

Most visitors arrive on a phone, often on a patchy signal. Here’s the concept’s home page on a phone, and how it scores in Google’s Lighthouse test.

Measured with Lighthouse 13.6.0 on 1 November 2026: mobile, simulated slow 4G (Lighthouse default), production build served with compression like Cloudflare Pages. “Main content visible” is Largest Contentful Paint. SEO scores 69 here only because concept pages are deliberately hidden from Google (noindex), which Lighthouse counts against them; this site’s real pages score 100.
